Scottish Water

Scottish Water provides water and waste water services to households across Scotland and runs Scotland’s network of pipes, water sources and treatment works.
It also acts as the wholesaler of water and waste water services in the competitive market for business customers in Scotland.

Licensed suppliers

From 1 April 2008 business customers can choose their water and waste water service supplier. New suppliers in the Scottish water industry must be licensed by us.

The CMA

The Central Market Agency (CMA) was set up to administer the new market. The CMA registers who is the licensed supplier of each business customer in Scotland. The CMA also calculates the money owed by each supplier to Scottish Water for wholesale services.
